Dr. Melanie Light graduated from Deakin University and undertook her physician training at Monash Health in Melbourne. She completed specialist dual training in Endocrinology and General Medicine at the Austin Hospital, Monash Health and the Alfred Hospital.

She has been involved in quality improvement and clinical practice guideline development, as well as a continuing interest in teaching and education of junior doctors and medical students. During her work in the Clinical Nutrition Unit at Monash Health she developed a keen interest in nutrition, metabolism and obesity and completed a research project in this area.

She has an interest in treating all general endocrine conditions including obesity, thyroid, parathyroid, pituitary, adrenal, osteoporosis and men’s and women’s health, and all types of diabetes. Melanie’s dual training in endocrinology and general medicine contributes to her holistic approach and ability to manage problems associated with chronic disease including the long term effects of diabetes and obesity.
